Solar Heating Panels for Swimming Pools
The prospect of "free" heat from the sun is an increasingly economic and popular choice. This is one of the most environmentally friendly sources of renewable energy. It is best to have an area of between 50% to 70% of the pool surface area.
Solar heaters can still be effective even if the weather is dull or overcast. Some people also have a small electric or gas heater, for example, to give an extra boost early or late in the season or at night. The prices below include the necessary connectors and manifolds to join the panels to each other. Please ask us to quote you if you would also like us to supply the plumbing to take the pool water to and from your pool filtration.
We normally recommend that this pipework includes a couple of valves and tees, so that you can by-pass the solar panels when the weather is cold. It is even possible to purchase a kit to automate this process.
The optional automatic differential temperature controller is £159. This needs to be combined with an automatic 3-way valve, £399. It is also possible to use a 2-way valve, for £296, but this is not recommended. For roof mounting we advise you also purchase a vacuum release valve, £10.
We can configure panels to suit virtually any area. Please ask for a quotation, giving the length and breadth available. The examples below are for approximate guidance only.
VAT and UK mainland delivery are included with all our solar panels. Lowest UK prices guaranteed.
Sunstar ready made flexible Solar Panels
Any number can be joined together sideways to create the area you need, and extra panels can be added in the future if required. The panels can be laid on any surface, horizontal or sloping. These solar collectors are ideal if you want to install them on a sloping roof. Each panel has its own slotted fixing pad from which it hangs longways down the slope.

Solarmatt pool solar heating system
Solarmatt comes as a kit with separate manifolds and tubing, designed to be cut to length and assembled on site. Solarmatt is best for flat surfaces, including flat roofs and on the ground next to the pool, where it is quite happy to be walked on.There is plenty of flexibility as regards making optimum use of the space available.
The width of a Solarmatt array = its area divided by its length.
The same area can be long and thin or short and fat. One clever solution is to take a long system and fold it in a U-shape etc. This not only saves money, but it also means that the flow and return are both at the same end. Please telephone us for advice on 0208-979-1667.
