The back wash hose is connected to the filter. When you switch the multi-port valve (MPV) to backwash, the water runs out through this hose to waste.
You will need male thread hose tails to fix to the MPV and then you can jubilee clip the Backwash Hose onto the Hosetail.
The hose can also be used on a submersible pump for draining pools.
