Wall Mounted Dehumidifiers

Maintaining the right humidity in indoor swimming pools is essential. Excess moisture can damage building materials, causing mould and structural decay. Not all facilities have space for large units or ducted systems, which is where our wall-mounted dehumidifiers come in. They provide efficient, compact, and powerful moisture control without taking up valuable poolside space.

What Are Wall Mounted Dehumidifiers?

As the name suggests, a wall dehumidifier is a unit designed to be fixed directly onto the wall of your pool hall or wet room. Unlike portable units that take up floor space or complex ducted systems that require significant installation work behind the scenes, these units are visible, accessible, and designed to blend seamlessly into the pool environment.

They serve a single purpose: to strip excess moisture from the air to maintain a set humidity level (usually around 55-65%). By doing so, they prevent the conditions that allow mould and bacteria to thrive, protect the integrity of the building, and ensure a pleasant atmosphere for swimmers. They are particularly popular for:

  • Private residential pools
  • Small to medium commercial pools
  • Spa areas and hot tub rooms
  • Therapy pools
  • Changing rooms

How Do They Work?

While they look sleek and simple from the outside, the technology inside a wall dehumidifier is sophisticated. They generally operate using a refrigeration cycle, which is highly effective for the warm, humid conditions found in pool rooms.

Here is the general process:

  • Air Intake: A fan draws the warm, moist air from the pool room into the unit.
  • Cooling: The air passes over a cold evaporator coil. Because the coil is much colder than the air, the moisture condenses into water droplets, effectively “drying” the air.
  • Collection/Drainage: This condensed water is collected and drained away, removing the moisture from the room entirely.
  • Reheating: The dry, cool air then passes over a warm condenser coil. This warms the air back up before it is returned to the room.
  • Circulation: The warm, dry air is blown back into the pool hall, lowering the overall humidity.

Crucially, the process of condensing water releases latent heat. This means the air returning to the room is slightly warmer than the air that entered, often providing a useful contribution to heating the space and reducing energy costs.

Benefits for Swimming Pools

Choosing wall mounted dehumidifiers offers distinct advantages for pool owners and managers who need effective climate control without major construction work.

Space-Saving Design – Floor space around a pool is precious. It needs to remain clear for safety and access. By mounting the unit on the wall, you keep walkways clear and reduce trip hazards. Their slim profiles ensure they don’t protrude significantly, maintaining the aesthetics of your pool hall.

Cost-Effective Installation – Compared to ducted systems, a wall dehumidifier is easy to install. They simply require a suitable wall, power supply, and a drain for the condensate. This makes them an excellent choice for retrofitting into existing pools.

Protection Against Structural Damage – High humidity is silent but destructive. It permeates walls, rots timber, and corrodes metal fixtures. By keeping humidity strictly controlled, these units extend the lifespan of your building and reduce maintenance costs associated with damp and mould.

Quiet Operation – Designed for pool environments, these wall mounted dehumidifiers are engineered to operate quietly. This ensures that the relaxation of a spa day or the focus of a swim session isn’t disturbed by the drone of heavy machinery.
