What are Pump Inverters?

Most standard pool pumps are “single-speed,” meaning they only have one setting: 100% power. However, your pool doesn’t always need that much power. For example, while heavy vacuuming might require full speed, basic filtration and chemical circulation can be done much more slowly.

Pump inverters act as a brain for your existing pump. They sit between your power supply and the pump, allowing you to manually or automatically adjust the motor speed. Instead of the pump running at full blast, the inverter “slows it down” to the exact speed required for the task at hand.

The Main Benefits of Pool Pump Inverters

  • Energy Savings: This is the biggest advantage. Because of the laws of fluid dynamics, reducing a pump’s speed by half doesn’t just halve the energy used, it can reduce it by up to 88%. Most users find that their pump inverters pay for themselves in energy savings within the first year or two.
  • Quiet Operation: A pump running at full speed can be noisy, especially if it’s located near a patio or bedroom window. By using one of our pool pump inverters, you can drop the speed and enjoy a quieter environment.
  • Better Filtration: Water filters are better when they move slowly. When water is pushed through your filter media at high pressure, tiny particles can be forced through. Slowing the flow down allows the media to catch more debris, leading to cleaner water.
  • Longer Equipment Life: Running a motor at 100% all the time causes heat and wear. By using an inverter to run the pump at a lower intensity, you reduce the strain on the motor and internal seals, helping your equipment last much longer.

Easy to Install and Use

You don’t need to replace your entire filtration system to get these benefits. Our range of pump inverters is designed to be easily wired into most existing single-speed pumps. They feature simple touchscreens or dials, allowing you to set different timers for different times of the day. For instance, you could set a high speed for a few hours in the morning and a very low, energy-efficient speed for the rest of the day.
